BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - An Alabama soldier was one of those wounded in the mass shooting at Fort Hood on Thursday according to the Birmingham News.

Over 200 members of the 135th Expeditionary Sustainment Command left Birmingham last weekend to go to Fort Hood for training before heading to Afghanistan.

Public Information officials at Fort Hood won't release information about the injured soldier until family members are notified.

People at the Army National Guard location in Homewood said they were glued to their TV's all day watching the story unfold.

Members of the 135th were undergoing training at Fort

Hood, and would have been in the Soldier Readiness Center where the shootings took place.

A spokesperson at the Alabama Army National Guard headquarters in Montgomery said they were shocked and saddened to see soldiers killing other soldiers.

"There is always concern when you hear about something like this at military installations or anywhere," said Norman Arnold, "We were concerned for the well being of soldiers and other personnel on the base."

Arnold says as of now there are no plans to increase security at any Alabama army posts, but officials continue to monitor the situation.
