Baptist Association helping the homeless on Thanksgiving

Posted: Updated:

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The Birmingham Baptist Association is serving up food for friends this Thanksgiving day and weekend. The group of volunteers will feed the homeless under the viaduct at First Avenue North and 26th Street from today until Sunday.

Each year dozens of people volunteer their time to prepare meals, serve them and pass out hygiene kits and winter clothing. Today the group served about 500 people and they expect to help hundreds more throughout the weekend.
