Free the Hops looking to lift brewery restrictions

Posted: Updated:

MONTGOMERY, AL (WBRC) - The group that worked to bring higher-alcohol content beer to Alabama wants state lawmakers to loosen restrictions on breweries and brew-pubs.

"Free the Hops" urges lawmakers to support the brewery modernization act. The measure would lift some restrictions on opening and operating breweries, as well as allowing consumers to sample beer. The bill would also change the state's stance on brewpubs, a move the group's lobbyist says could lead to job creation.
