GULF SHORES, AL (WBRC) - People along the coast got some much needed and well-deserved relief on Sunday night in the form of a concert.
Thousands gathered to see Jimmy Buffett perform. The singer and Gulf Coast native put on a free show to help draw people back to Alabama's beaches. Buffett played several of his most popular songs including "Cheeseburger in Paradise", "Fins", "A Pirate Looks at Forty" and a very special version of "Margaritaville" where the lyrics in a part of the song were change to "now I know, it's all BP's fault."
The concert also featured Jesse Winchester and Allen Toussaint.
This all comes as part of a push to keep the gulf economy running despite the destruction caused by the BP oil spill. Hotel and business owners say they have seen a decrease in tourists since the spill. Free concerts are part of the plan to keep the struggling local economy running.
