Several storage units burglarized in Bessemer

BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) - A major burglary at a Bessemer storage facility was discovered when about 50 units were broken into on Bessemer Superhighway, say police. Many people are frustrated after the overnight burglary at Uncle Bob's Self Storage in Bessemer.

Police are investigating how someone broke into about 50 units. The satellite TV company, Direct TV, was renting a storage unit at this facility.  An employee at the scene told FOX 6 News that the lock was cut on their unit and some boxes were torn open, however, nothing was taken. He says that is because the equipment inside was serialized.

The employee also said that a lawnmower was stolen from a nearby unit and that this is unfortunate for all the renters who have been hit.

"A bunch of units have been hit and it's not right," said Antonio Bonne. "We're working hard and they're coming in here hitting up everybody."
