Birmingham attorney Phillip Jauregui is leading the legal team that is appealing the decision to remove former Chief Justice Roy Moore from office.
Spokeswoman for Moore, Jessica Atteberry, says Moores' attorneys during the trial before the Court of the Judiciary are now assisting the legal team as advisers. They are Terry Butts of Troy, Jim Wilson of Montgomery and Mike Jones of Luverne. Attorneys Drew Dill and Benjamin DuPre are also working with the legal team. They worked for Moore when he was chief justice. Jauregui was one of the attorneys who represented Moore in his legal fight to keep a 5,300-pound Ten Commandments monument in the rotunda of the Alabama Judicial Building. Moore was removed from office for refusing to obey a federal judge's order to move the monument.
Moore is planning to file briefs with the Supreme Court on Thursday supporting his appeal of the decision to remove him from office.
