BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The Birmingham 135th Expeditionary Sustainment Command will be shipping out soon.
According to Brigadier General Reynold Hoover, the soldiers will be leaving this weekend to assist the effort in Afghanistan.
The 135th will play a very important role in Afghanistan. They will be in charge of coordinating supply and logistics in the Afghan theatre. Getting supplies such as water, meals and fuel to the soldiers will be their responsibility.
When asked about the escalating violence in Afghanistan, Hoover replied, "Danger is a part of it. The troops have been training for over a year for this. They are ready for it."
A departure ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at John Carroll High School.
