Former Bessemer city councilor found not guilty

BESSEMER, AL (WBRC) -  A jury finds former Bessemer city councilwoman Louise Alexander not guilty on all charges against her in a public corruption case.

Alexander was accused of using her position for personal gain.

Allegations against her stem from 3 checks she received from a Tuscaloosa businessman, Stan Pate.

Alexander was accused of pocketing money that was meant for Abrams Elementary.

Pate said he wrote 3 checks that totaled $17,000.

Alexander'sdefense said that the jury did the right thing.
