BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) - The city of Birmingham hopes for a sellout when the Fed Cup is played at the BJCC this April. It is the female version of the Davis Cup which was played here last year.
Gene Hallman, President of the Bruno Event Team, says there is a possibility for a sellout thanks to matches against the Russian women's team and potential matchups involving Venue and Serena Williams. Hallman tells Fox6 News, "You've got a lot of star power. With the Russians you've got 2 of the top players in the world. And it looks very positive for at least Venus Williams to be playing here in Birmingham and they're telling us Serena is a distinct possibility."
Tickets to the Fed Cup went on sale Friday. The matches are scheduled for April 24th and 25th.
