MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Five murders remain unsolved. Two are in Madison County, and 3 are in Huntsville.
The cases are open and police welcome any tips to help solve them. However, they say the longer they go without word, the harder these cases are to solve.
In September 2009, George Woodard Junior was shot and killed at his home on Debbie Boulevard in Madison County. His family continues to pray that the murder case will soon be solved with an arrest.
"Somebody knows something, and I wish whoever knows something would go forth and tell us something because this has really been hard," said Alma Woodard.
Woodard was a well-respected long-time member of Toyota's management team. He was also a very active member in his church and a family member well loved and missed.
In a separate homicide case, Madison County authorities still don't have a suspect in custody for the murder of Marc Wenger. Employees of Wenger called the sheriff's office after not hearing from him. Deputies found Wenger dead inside his home on Lariat Drive in Harvest earlier this month. Next door neighbors say they didn't have a good relationship with Wenger.
"He come to the fence, lashed out and called me everything but the child of God, so I called 911," said Ricard Garner.
Then last Friday, Huntsville Police were called to investigate the murder of 60-year-old Herbert Gray, who was the owner of Graytronix. He was found in the floor of his office by his secretary, who said the door to the building was un-locked and the alarm was off when she first arrived. Gray was an Alabama A&M trustee in the 1980's and an active member of Lakeside United Methodist Church.
Police could also use your help solving Melinda Haygood's death. She was found wrapped in a tarp and buried under stacks of wood on Derrick Street on New Years Day of 2009.
Gayland Steele was found shot to death at The Reserve at Research Park Apartments.
Erik Hawkins and his wife were bound and killed by intruders.
If you have any information on these crimes call police immediately.
