FOX6 News Reporter/Anchor Karen Church was born in Denver, Colorado but grew up in Los Angeles, California. She says her years around the Hollywood culture influenced her to get into television. Karen's favorite actress is Katharine Hepburn. She says meeting her movie idol in person was one of the high points of her early years.
After graduating from California State University-Northridge, Karen decided to pursue her graduate degree in radio, television and film from San Diego State University.
After graduation Karen worked in several markets around the country.
She's been a news anchor in Houston, Texas; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Kansas City, Missouri. She also was host to a national television show for the FOX Network.
Now Karen calls Birmingham home where she is the mother of two.
Her biggest passion is encouraging animal adoption from animal shelters and pushing the importance of spaying and neutering. Karen strongly encourages people to always adopt from a Humane Society or shelter before ever considering buying an animal.
Shelter, or 'rescue' animals always know they've been saved...and will be your unconditionally loving best friend forever.
When she's not tracking down news stories for FOX6, or anchoring the weekend news, Karen enjoys playing tennis and spending time with her family - especially her four dogs, all of whom she adopted from local humane societies or animal rescue groups.
