
Scott Richards has anchored more evening newscasts in Birmingham than any other news anchor in Birmingham television history. It adds up to nearly 20,000 since 1981…all from Channel 6, WBRC.
Scott got his start in broadcasting in the United States Army in 1971. After 3 years of active duty, his first job in commercial television took him to Louisville, Kentucky where he worked as a street reporter, photographer, producer, executive-producer and news anchor.
The Associated Press has named Scott as the Best News Anchor in Alabama an unprecedented 9 times. In addition, Scott received the Silver Circle Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Scott attended Wake Forest University for three years before enlisting in the army. After completing military service, Scott finished college at the University of Louisville.
Scott is married and has two children.
