Beth Shelburne was born and raised in Birmingham and came home to join FOX6 WBRC-TV as anchor of FOX6 News at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. in September of 2010.

Her broadcasting career has taken her all over the United States, but "sweet home" Alabama has always been in her heart and she's happy to be back home.

Beth has reported and anchored the news in half a dozen cities around the country, including San Diego, California, Fort Myers, Florida, and, most recently, Boston, Massachusetts.  Her work has been recognized numerous times; she won an Emmy award for best breaking news coverage during the devastating brushfires of 2003 in Southern California.  She also won an Edward R. Murrow award for writing on a series of reports she filed in Manhattan shortly after the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

Beth's interest in broadcasting began when she was a student at Homewood High School.  She graduated from Auburn University, worked as a news producer in Birmingham and landed her first reporting job in Florence, Alabama, where she shot and edited all her stories as a "one-man-band."  That hard work led to an exciting career and Beth now enjoys mentoring young journalists.

Beth lives in the Birmingham area with her husband, Kevin, and their daughter, Avelina.  She cares deeply about issues that affect women and children and is active in many cancer organizations.  She also enjoys music, cooking and traveling.  She is proud to join the strong tradition of news and community service at FOX6 WBRC-TV.
