ARAB, AL (WAFF)- Dark Wood Farms in Arab comes to life....or afterlife....at this time every year. It's a family run haunted chicken house, which started from a legend.
"October 8th, 1977 there were six people out here, back side of the farm. They was out messing around one day, I guess. A guy lived down the road...they was being too loud or something, he decided to come over here, and legend has it, all they found was a bunch of body parts," said co-founder Dustin Cobb.
The police department says it never happened, but the tale still makes a good foundation for a "haunted farm".
"We thought we could use these old houses for something, and we put our brains together come up with the idea to do it," said Michael Riggins, co-founder.
Some nights he says there are up to 300 people who come to be scared.
It's important to watch your step because you never know who you will meet inside the chicken house.
Your tour guide "Chucky" directs you through a tunnel, but still beware of narrow bridges.
You never know who's "hanging" around at Dark Wood Farm. While it may be an overall friendly place, it's not for the faint of heart.
