Editorial: Giving thanks

The following is an editorial from FOX6 WBRC-TV General Manager Lou Kirchen, first aired on Wednesday, November 24, 2010:

My Dad used to tell the story about how…while we were saying grace at mealtime, his child…this child, with head bowed, would have one eye closed and the other one open looking expectantly at the meat platter…anxious to get started with the meal.

Every year, this time, we attack the holidays, full speed ahead…gotta get the right sweater for sister, gotta get the tree up and trimmed...holiday bowl games on tv.  It seems there's never a moment to stop and remember the Reason for the Season.

Before we begin running headlong in the wonderful madness of the Holidays, we DO have an opportunity to close both eyes and prayerfully take the time to say…thanks…thanks for everything good in our lives.  It's called Thanksgiving Day.  All of us at FOX6 hope you and your family have a wonderful, restful Thanksgiving holiday.
