The following is an editorial from FOX6 WBRC-TV General Manager Lou Kirchen, first aired on Tuesday, January 25, 2011:
I'm always glad to hear from you…whether you agree with me or not. And I always hear from all sides of any issue we discuss. This week, I received an interesting, but short email from a viewer who says they don't enjoy my comments because they are, and I'm quoting here… "old-fashioned and dated". What does that mean?
Because they didn't give me any specifics, I looked back thru previous editorials trying to determine what they meant. Are comments about civility, gratefulness, and the power of prayer old-fashioned or dated? Editorials discussing our region's economic development plans, state legislative ethics, the incidence of texting while driving, or the unfortunate practice of able-bodied drivers using handicapped designated parking…are topics like those, irrelevant?
I am always looking for new and contemporary topics for editorials and would welcome your input. I appreciate the viewer who sent this email and would love to hear her ideas…and yours. Thank you.
