AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

Auburn University announced Thursday that it will honor its three Heisman Trophy winners: Pat Sullivan (1971), Bo Jackson (1985) and Cam Newton (2010) with large statues.

The three men's likenesses, cast in bronze, will call the east side of Jordan-Hare Stadium home once they're unveiled sometime during the 2011-12 academic year.

Auburn Athletics Director Jay Jacobs said the statues will be about one and a half times life size and will weigh in at a hefty 1,900 pounds each. Montana designer and sculpture Ken Bjorge was chosen to create the works of art.

In addition to the three Auburn players who've taken possession of a Heisman Trophy, a fourth statue will be erected for the trophy's namesake, John Heisman, who was Auburn's head coach from 1895-99. His statue will also be placed at the east entry plaza of the stadium.

"Auburn University has a rich Heisman heritage and we felt like it was time to recognize the lasting contributions of our Heisman Trophy winners that span four decades," Jacobs said. "The statues on the east side of Jordan-Hare Stadium will forever capture the greatness of Pat Sullivan, Bo Jackson and Cam Newton so generations to come will know and understand what these former greats mean to Auburn football."

Auburn is tied for fifth all-time with three Heisman winners and is the only university where Heisman coach that also has a Heisman winner.
