MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Robert Bentley says Alabama is leading the rest of the U.S. in improvements on Advanced Placement tests used to qualify high school students for college credits. Bentley and State School Superintendent Tommy Bice announced the results of a study in Montgomery on Wednesday.

GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) - Voters in the northeast Alabama city of Gadsden have approved Sunday alcohol sales by a wide margin in a vote Tuesday. Officials say the measure passed with 69 percent of the ballots in favor of allowing the sales, which could begin in September once the vote count is certified by the Gadsden city council.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - CrimeStoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information about thefts that heavily damaged the Montgomery apartment complex where Rosa Parks once lived. It's the same apartment building where Parks had lived when she refused to give up her seat to a white person on a city bus.

HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - A woman from the community of Warrior has been charged with stealing more than $200,000 from her employer by forging checks. Police say 52-year-old Rebecca Higginbotham was arrested Tuesday, accused of stealing and forging at least 135 checks from her employer.
