CENTER POINT, AL (WBRC) -

A man was killed Saturday after being struck and pinned under a vehicle in Center Point.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, in a statement Saturday afternoon to FOX6 News, said deputies were called to the parking lot of CiCi's Pizza around 12:30 p.m. on a report of a pedestrian struck. When they arrived they discovered a 46-year-old man pinned under a Silver Kia Sorento.

Center Point Fire jacked the vehicle up and pulled the victim out from under the car. He was transported to St. Vincent's East where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators said the vehicle was being driven by a 23-year-old female. Witnesses said the victim was coming out of CiCi's Pizza with his fiance and 18-year-old son when the vehicle hit him.

As of Saturday afternoon, the driver was in custody and was being questioned by detectives.

The names of the victim and driver were not released.
