BIRMINGHAM,ALABAMA (WBRC) - The Jefferson County Sheriffs department found 13 Pit Bulls chained to trees Friday night after responding to a woods fire around 7pm in the 1600 Block of Woodruff Mill Road. A deputy on the scene reported a possible dog fighting compound was found. Phil Doster with BJC Animal Control said the dogs seem to be in decent health. One dog has what appears to be scarring from old wounds and a couple of the dogs had soot on their paws but no burns. This now puts the BJC Animal control at around 60 animals under cruelty investigation. At this point, there is no word of any suspects or arrests.
