Architects from around the country are touring the damage that was caused on April 27th. They are preparing for a town hall meeting on Friday night where they hope to get input from Pratt City neighbors on how they would like to see the area rebuilt.
This is not the first time this team from the American Institute of Architects has been in town. In August, they met with Pratt City residents at Mt. Moriah Church and today they want more input from residents.
The AIA's goal in making these visits and holding meetings is to create a master plan for the area. On Friday morning, a group of about 20 architects and students toured the damage around Pratt City Library in preparation for the meeting.
One AIA member says the work really starts Saturday when they begin to sort through all of the feedback they expect to get tonight.
"Listening to the community this evening and then tomorrow morning, we will start to synthesize that and we will look at maps other data resources and start to develop what the community is telling us they want to see in the future," said architect Bert Gregory.
At the last meeting people listed green spaces, a pool, a park and a business district for restaurants as their top priorities.
The event will be held Friday night at South Hampton Elementary School. It starts at 6:00 p.m. and is scheduled to wrap up around 8:00 p.m. Anyone is invited to attend.
