The Leeds City School System has created a new way to help students who are bullied in school. Officials have started a bullying prevention hotline.
Students can either call or text to report bullying and it stays confidential. Most of the calls have been from students at the middle school. There have been no severe cases, but have students have left messages saying they were being verbally and physically bullied.
After the report comes into the hotline, the principal of the student is notified and the situation is investigated. Students have even used the hotline to report when they see another classmate being bullied.
The hotline number is 205-329-5154.
