SPRINGDALE, AR (WDAM) -

Austin Davis was awarded the second annual Burlsworth Trophy Friday. The Burlsworth Trophy is awarded to the most outstanding football player in the country who began his career as a walk-on.

The award is named in honor of Brandon Burlsworth, a former All-American lineman and walk-on at the University of Arkansas, who died in a car accident 11 days after being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 1999. Davis was one of three finalists, including Houston wide receiver Patrick Edwards and Stanford wide receiver Griff Whalen.
