Northport police released the names of four victims involved in a two car crash on Highway 82 and Sam Sutton Road in Coker Wednesday night.
Scottie Philips, the driver of the second vehicle, is in fair condition at DCH Medical Center. The three people killed are Johnny Dewayne Channel, Brandon E. Campbell and Jared Porter. All three were 23-years-old.
Police Chief Robert Green said that Channel was driving a Ford F-150 heading south on Sutton Road when he ran a stop sign and hit a truck driven by Philips. All three were thrown from the vehicle and it later caught fire.
This morning, dozens of mourners appeared at the accident scene. It's a night of tragedy Rebecca Beck's family won't forget.
"He's a great guy, loves football. Never met a stranger, kept everybody laughing. Biggest Alabama fan we know. He was definitely Roll Tide," Beck said.
Her step-daughter Sassy dated one of the men killed, 23-year-old Jared Porter.
Coker Volunteer Fire Chief Steve Hysaw tells Fox6 News says there have been two major accidents at the intersection since this summer, including two fatalities. He says town officials have also voiced concerns to the state department of transportation about this intersection.
