
The brother of a man recently charged with sexual abuse was arrested Saturday for breaking into a Shelby County High School.
Alabaster Police say 43-year-old Harmon D. Acker was arrested Saturday afternoon for breaking into Thompson High School. Acker is the brother of Danny Acker, a former teacher who was recently charged with several counts of sexual abuse.
Police say at 1 p.m. Feb. 4 they responded to a burglary in progress call at the school. A witness notified police he had seen a man trying to break into the school through a window.
Acker was taken into custody at the scene. Evidence at the scene indicated that Acker did make entry into the school. Officials with the Shelby County Board of Education signed a warrant for his arrest.
Acker was charged with Criminal Trespassing 2nd Degree. He was released from jail after posting a $500.00 bond. He has been placed on paid administrative leave by the Shelby County Board of Education.
