Men need gifts on Valentine's, too

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

With all the roses, chocolates and cuddly bears lining store shelves right now it sometimes seems like Valentine's Day is mostly geared toward women.  That does not mean you can not have the guy in your life blushing, if just a little.

Here are a few gift ideas for the guy in your life:

Good People Brewing Company will be open on Valentine's Day.  The business, which is typically closed on Tuesdays, will have discounted beers for the holiday as well as special ales on tap and some giveaways.

"What man doesn't love to be in a brewery having a beer," owner, Michael Sellers, said about the idea to open up shop for V-day.

If your guy is all about the pampered life, why not treat him to a Valentine's Day spa package at Butler's Grooming?  For $85 he can get the works which includes a 30-minute massage, a gent's facial and a foot treatment.

"If you've never had a pedicure it's definitely something every man should experience at least once," Butler's employee, Kathy Wray, said.

Have more of an outdoorsman?  Try a trip to Ruffner Mountain for their special event, Tapas on the Trails.  The February 11th event is $36 for a couple.  It starts with a walk on the mountain's trails which will be illuminated for the night.  Couples can stop and partake in tapas and wine that will be set up along the path.  Things will wrap up with dessert, a fire pit and live music back at Ruffner's nature preserve.

"It's a nice way of combining an outdoorsy event for a man who's robust but who may not know how to combine that into a romantic adventure," Ruffner's executive director, Robbie Fern, said.

A subscription might be just the thing your love has been wanting.  If he's a fashionista have Gentleman's Quarterly sent to him for $15 a year.  For a movie buff a Netflix subscription starts at $7.99 a month.
