Lock down lifted at Pinson Elementary

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says the lockdown at Pinson Elementary School has been lifted. The school was placed on a modified lockdown after a suspect fled from a traffic stop in the area.

Chief Deputy Randy Christian tells us that around 6:15 a.m. on Tuesday, a deputy began a traffic stop on Sweeney Hollow Road near Main Street in Pinson. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot once the vehicle came to a stop.  The passenger of the vehicle was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant with another agency.

Deputies are now searching the area and using a tracking dog in an attempt to locate the driver. Businesses in the area are encouraged to lock their doors and notify the Sheriff's Office of anything suspicious.

The suspect is a white male around 5'9" with brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing blue jeans and a brown plaid jacket.

The Sheriff's Officer believes the man to be 34-year-old Kevin Campbell of Pinson. He is wanted for Theft of Property 1st Degree, Receiving Stolen Property 2nd Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Burglary 3rd Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Manufacture of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree.
