Northport Police Chief Robert GreenNorthport Police Chief Robert Green has been placed on paid administrative leave again, but no one is saying why. Green's suspension became public after the last city council meeting.
Green had several run-ins with city leaders before he became police chief in 2006. In one instance, he was suspended for the way he handled disciplining an assistant chief. Green also made headlines when driving a car confiscated in a drug investigation, going against the city administrator in the matter.
Most recently, Green filed a discrimination complaint against the city of Northport.
Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon says the city police department has a 61 percent turnover rate. Due to the amount of turnovers and Chief Greens suspension, the Northport Police Department will soon be audited.
Herndon would not comment on when or if Green might return to his position. Green's lawyer in the discrimination case did not respond for comment.
