As we head into the month of March, some Center Point residents are getting frustrated and wondering when storm debris will be removed.
There have been several calls to the Fox6 newsroom from people who say storm debris is piling up in their neighborhoods and they want to know when it will be cleared away.
Fox6 News reporter Ronda Robinson talked with Center Point Mayor Tom Henderson about these concerns. He said he is aware of their concerns and that progress is being made.
"When you think about that we have 60,000 to 70,000 cubic yards of debris to take care of and volunteers trying to get it to the road so we can pick it up. It is a big task but we're going to get it done," Henderson said.
A company by the name of DRC is expected to sign the contract and start work Wednesday morning.
Mayor Henderson says so far, crews from neighboring cities and Jefferson County have been helping with debris removal.
He estimates that about 45,000 cubic yards of debris still needs to be removed.
