JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

Today Jefferson County Commission President David Carrington blasted a public policy group for saying the county is not forthcoming about its budget crisis. Carrington says the head of the Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama was reckless and should apologize to the Jefferson County Commissioners.

Jim Williams said the county should provide a more detailed budget for analysis about their budget crisis. Some Jefferson County lawmakers made the same compliant. Carrington says the county's budget is available for anyone to see.

"I checked with the county manager and commissioners, the budget office, we have not gotten a request for information by PARCA or any other party," Carrington said.

Wednesday in Montgomery, Birmingham attorney Jim Pratt who has been trying to help county commissioners in talks with lawmakers, is meeting with members of the Jefferson County legislative delegation and provide details of the county's financial problems.
