FOX6 talked to several drivers who traverse mile marker 229 on I-65 in Calera, and they all said that it's a dangerous area.
Around 12:45 p.m. today three vehicles were involved in an accident that killed one and shut down the interstate for nearly four hours.
"With that lane the on ramp is not very long so you don't have a lot of space to get in and a lot of people don't allow vehicles to move over to merge into traffic so you have a lot of accidents," Jeanette LeBlanc said.
In a year's time, LeBlanc says she's seen close to 10 accidents on this stretch of highway.
Reporter Vanessa Araiza will have more on this story tonight at 9.
