
Birmingham Police say they have the suspect of a deadly shooting in custody.
The incident happened around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday evening in the 500 block of 18th Street in Ensley. The victim has been identified as Johnta Tate, 28 of Birmingham.
West Precinct officers responded to the scene after receiving a 9-1-1 call. Upon arriving, they found Tate suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to UAB where he was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
The suspect in the case was taken into custody shortly after the shooting and officers have learned that Tate and the suspect were involved in a dispute.
