An ALDOT spokesperson said Thursday that an I-65 onramp Calera locals call "dangerous" may be under construction as soon as November.
Exit 228 northbound was the site of a fatal crash July 5 that killed one and injured multiple people. FOX6 News reported that same night the accounts of several locals who contend that the onramp there is too short and makes for dangerous driving conditions.
Tony Harris with ALDOT say the project bid will tentatively open Sept. 28, 2012. He says that for two years, ALDOT has planned to widen the bridge near the exit, which would allow them to lengthen the onramp.
