Firefighters in Irondale just wrapped up at the scene of a home that exploded. The incident started around 2 a.m. at a house in the 5200 block of Goldmar Drive.
Investigators say the homeowner smelled gas from a vehicle and went into his garage. Something ignited the fuel, causing the home to explode.
The victim is at UAB Hospital. We are told he has sustained burns to 40% of his body.
