Man disappears after leaving suicide note in Sylacauga

SYLACAUGA, AL (WBRC) -

The Sylacauga Police Department says they are looking for a man who left a suicide note early on Tuesday morning.

According to officers, 31-year-old Brian Travis was last seen around 1 a.m. on July 17. He is described as a white male, 5'7" with brown hair, brown eyes and weighs 170 lbs.

Based on information gathered, a search has begun in the area of the Coosa River Bridge in Childersburg.

Sylacauga Police Chief Chris M. Carden issued a statement on Wednesday on the search for Travis:

"We are relying on our community to assist us in locating Mr. Travis, we are concerned for his wellbeing and would like to do everything possible to locate him and return him to his family. We have made contact with Childersburg Police and are trying to work with any agency that may be able to assist us in locating Mr. Travis. I want to encourage anyone that has any information to please contact the police department at 256.245.4334."
