JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -
Authorities are investigating the death of an Alabama inmate.
Prison officials say 23-year-old Steven Newell was stabbed to death Thursday at the Donaldson Correctional Facility in west Jefferson County. He was serving a sentence for assault and theft in Calhoun County.
Officials say inmate James Bennett is a suspect in the stabbing. He is serving time for assault in Mobile County.
