The following are comments to an editorial from FOX6 WBRC-TV General Manager Lou Kirchen, first aired on Thursday, July 26, 2012:

I think they should ban texting all the way. If they need to call somebody, they need to pull over and call 'em. There's too many kids that's getting killed and they're the main one's doing the textin'...
Mark from Sylacauga
I drive a 18-wheeler. The fine of $25, $70 or $75 for the 4-wheeler compared to what the fine is for 18-wheeler is no comparison. They need to carry it on up to $250 to $500 to $1000.
Donna from Goodwater
Texting while driving is dangerous and the first offense should be $100 at least.
Tom from Jasper
I use my cell phone when somebody calls me, I pull over to the side of the road. Whether I'm on an interstate or any place. If I'm going to make a phone call, I pull into a parking lot, I dial the phone here. The fines are negligible, they are not enough as a deterrent.
Rebecca from Gardendale
I think the fines should be the same as a drunk driver. ...my husband and I have been out on the road a lot and around these drivers. I tell him to watch out, the person beside us or up ahead of us is on something, either drugs or alcohol and it ends up they're texting on their telephone.
