FOX6 Call for Action celebrates two years helping consumers

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The FOX6 News Call for Action team of 30 volunteers has spent thousands hours advocating for consumers and Thursday, August 4 is a time for them to celebrate.

Their second anniversary is marked with the successful solution of 4,013 cases, the recovery of $826,247.89, and a letter of commendation from Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange.

Strange wrote:

On behalf of the Office of Attorney General, I commend the volunteer citizens who have devoted their efforts to protect and assist their neighbors as a part of the FOX6 Call for Action Team.

The protection of  Alabama's consumers is among our most important functions in the Attorney General's Office. As the most effective defenses against consumer fraud are education and prevention, we welcome the efforts of FOX6 On Your Side to keep consumers well-informed and, in the cases where consumer may have already been victimized, to direct them to the proper agencies, boards, officials or others who may assist with their particular issues.

Such valuable assistance is made possible by the dedication of this team of volunteers -- which includes retired teachers, healthcare professionals, law enforcement, mechanics and repair service providers, and many other concerned citizens -- who share their expertise, time and caring, to help make their community safer for fellow consumers. I thank each of you for your service, and congratulate Consumer Reporter Ronda Robinson for her leadership as FOX6 commemorates the second anniversary of its Call For Action Team.

Everyone at FOX6 News congratulates Ronda Robinson and the Call For Action team in their achievements.
