ANNISTON, AL (WBRC) -

Anniston Police say they're "leaning" toward murder-suicide after two elderly people died from gunshot wounds to the head.

Police say they answered a call at 629 West 13th Street around 2 p.m. Sunday, after relatives weren't able to get anyone to answer the door. Police found 73-year-old Geneva Bridges dead at the scene, and 83-year-old Annise Zimmerman in critical condition, with a wound to his head. Zimmerman died Monday morning at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Sgt. Josh Doggrell says he has no reason to believe whoever shot the two was a third person, and that police aren't looking for suspects. Doggrell admits police don't have a motive, like health issues, so far, but plan to interview family members and friends to see if they can determine one.

Doggrell says a handgun was found at the scene and is believed to be the one used in the shooting. He says both bodies have been sent away for autopsies and it could be months before they can piece together exactly what happened.
