The mayor of Graysville is
no longer in office.
The city attorney
presented the resignation on behalf of Mayor Doug Brewer at Monday night's city
council meeting. Brewer's impeachment trial would have begun today if he were
still in office. The impeachment proceedings were filed in March 2012 after Graysville citizens collected 200 signatures calling for Brewer's impreachment.
All parties agreed if Mayor
Brewer would resign, then his impeachment and defamation suit against a few
citizens would be tossed out. The city council voted to accept the terms of the
mutual agreement.
Mary Sue Morgan has been named acting mayor.
