BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The City of Birmingham is taking a look at putting in some new rules for towing companies.

Tuesday, the council set a hearing for Sept. 18 to look at the current regulations for private towing and booting companies and to discuss how they might be changed.

This comes in the wake of a FOX6 News report in July of complaints from customers of 5 Points South businesses. They said that a private towing company was aggressive in towing cars and charging up to $300 to get their cars back.
