BRIGHTON, AL (WBRC) -

The driver of a vehicle that led police on a chase in Brighton yesterday has been charged with attempted murder. The chase ended with a shooting between two suspects and two police officers on Parker Springs Street near the Bessemer Super Highway.

A passenger in the car, Calvin Lee Robinson, Jr., was killed in the shooting.

Police have identified the driver as Isaiah Brown. He was injured in the shooting but his condition is unknown. Brown's bond is set at $60,000.

The Hueytown Police Chief Chuck Hagler says Robinson and Brown were suspected drug dealers and part of an ongoing drug investigation.

Neither of the officers involved in the chase and shooting yesterday were injured.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigations took over the case. It will go before the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office.
