Vacant house destroyed in blaze in Hueytown

HUEYTOWN, AL (WBRC) -

Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that quickly destroyed house in Hueytown. It happened late Tuesday night around ten o'clock on 2nd Avenue off of Allison Bonnett Memorial Drive.

Firefighters faced a challenge when they arrived. The closest fire hydrant was across the street from the home. So, they temporarily closed the street while they put out the blaze.

The home had been vacant for years and a neighbor we spoke with says he was not sad to see the house go up in flames.

It took about 45 minutes for firefighters to contain the fire. No other structures were damaged.
