BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A handful of communities have announced Patriot Day (Sept. 11) activities or events. If your church, school or neighborhood is holding an event, let us know by sending an email to newstip@wbrc.com.

Cottondale: 

The public is invited to a 9/11 memorial ceremony held at the Cottondale VFW Post Tuesday morning. The Patriot Day Ceremony will be held at 8:46 a.m. at the post located at 7001 University Blvd. East.

Fultondale:

The city of Fultondale will dedicate a new 9/11 memorial on Lowery Parkway on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012.

Fultondale's Mayor Jim Lowery and the Fultondale City Council will host the service at 3310 Lowery Parkway in front of the Ashley Furniture store. The dedication ceremony is scheduled to start at 10 a.m.

Homewood:

The city of Homewood is hosting a Patriots Day Remembrance Ceremony from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Homewood City Hall located at 1903 29th Ave. South.

Birmingham:

The Birmingham fire memorial will start at 10:10 with Birmingham fire station flags lowered. At noon, a 9/11 memorial event will begin on 20th street.

Redstone Arsenal:

Army Materiel Command and Team Redstone will conduct a 9-11 Observance Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 8 a.m. at the Arsenal's Bicentennial Chapel.  The observance includes music by the AMC Band, scripture readings, and a guest speaker.

Anniston:

A remembrance and appreciate ceremony will take place at Centennial Park. Luther Strange will be the keynote speaker. It begins at 10 a.m.

Adamsville:

At 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11th, a Community Prayer event will be held at Adamsville City Hall located at 4828 Main Street in Adamsville.  Minor High School band will be performing.
