
Tremain Vanteas Gates. Source: Shelby County Sheriff's OfficeCalera Police announced today that the 3-month-old victim in a domestic violence case has passed away. The case will now be investigated as a homicide.
Last week, police made it public that they had arrested and charged Tremain Vanteas Gates for domestic violence-assault. He allegedly threw the 3-month-old male infant against a wall and also dropped him on the floor.
Gates was allegedly watching the child the evening of August 25. When the infant's mother came home the next day, she noticed that the child was not well and took him to a local hospital. Physicians there had the child airlifted to Children's Hospital in Birmingham.
Gates was arrested Aug. 29 and remains in prison Tuesday evening. No new charges have been filed as of the death announcement.
