AUBURN, AL (WBRC) -

Auburn head football coach Gene Chizik says he is proud of his team after the Tigers were able to defeat the University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks in overtime 31-28.

"Obviously, we were prepared for a very good football team and we got one," said Chizik as he opened up his post game press conference.

Chizik says he is proud of the way his players played to the very end of the game. He says that they had expected the Warhawks to stay strong in the 4th quarter, a prediction that came true as they had managed to tie up the game at 28 and put it into overtime.

The coach added that he saw many good things from his players, mentioning the defensive stops and work on special teams. Chizik says he had faith in kicker Cody Parkey to make the game winning field goal in overtime.

"We feel very comfortable putting the game on the line with our special teams," said Chizik.
