ALDOT is closing alternating lanes of the I-20 bridges that span the Cahaba River in Leeds for a few hours on Monday, Sept. 17.
The lane closures will allow the state transportation department to inspect the bridges located just east of the I-459 interchange at exit 136. The bridges are located at mile post 138.4.
"These inspections will require the I-20 eastbound outside (right) lane and shoulder to be closed in the area of the inspection. Following completion of the eastbound bridge, the westbound bridge will be inspected, requiring the I-20 westbound outside (right) lane and shoulder to be closed in the area of the inspection," ALDOT stated in a release.
The inspections began at 9 a.m. All lanes of the bridges are expected to be reopened for traffic by 3 p.m.
