AUBURN, AL (WBRC) -

Auburn head coach Gene Chizik says he is disappointed in Auburn's loss to currently second ranked LSU on Saturday.

Chizik started off his post game news conference on a somber note. He announced that a student assistant coach named Joe Bagwell unexpectedly passed away.

The coach then went on to acknowledge the enthusiasm of the fans at the game.

"I want to say thank you to all the fans. They came and they showed up and they did their job," said Chizik. "They were outstanding. That's what makes Auburn great."

As for the game, Chizik says he was disappointed in the extremely close loss to LSU. The coach said that he felt the team did not finish.

According to Chizik, the Auburn team put in a lot of preparation for the game. He says the players came into the game expecting to win. As for their next game, they plan to put in work and make improvements.

Auburn takes next week off before facing Arkansas on October 6th.
