TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Tuscaloosa police have arrested a 15-year-old who is accused of shooting and killing a man.

Investigators say the teen shot and killed 39-year-old Samuel Long. Officials are not releasing the 15-year-old suspect's name, but he has been charged with murder. He is not currently charged as an adult.

Police say Long was married to a relative of the teen suspect and sometimes stayed at the teen's home in the 100 block of 20th Ave. E. and was married to a woman in the suspect's family.

According to investigators, the shooting happened after a large fight in which several men inside the home began beating Long. Authorities believe the fight began after allegations that Long was physically abusing someone in the suspect's family came to light.

"Witnesses observed the suspect and other males kicking and beating the victim through the window of the residence," Captain Loyd Baker with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office said.

Witnesses say Long jumped out of the home through a window and the men chased him. The teenage suspect, who has not been identified, allegedly shot Long as he was running away. Officials say Long kept running after being shot but collapsed in a neighbor's yard. He was pronounced dead at DCH.

Several of the other men involved have been identified but not located.

The teenage shooter was arrested after he turned himself in to the homicide unit. He is being held in the Juvenile Detention Center.
