Chief Leon Davis says police officers with his department responded to the 1500 block of Cambridge Blvd. in Fairfield just before 4 a.m. Thursday on a report of a burglary. At the scene, they found two suspects trying to flee.
Officers tazed one of the suspects who tried to run away. Chief Davis says the other suspect tried to run over an officer with his vehicle. The officer fired a round at the suspect's vehicle and the suspect surrendered. No one was injured.
Police say the suspects forced a back door open but were caught before they could take anything inside. Chief Davis says officers searched the suspect's vehicle and found items inside they believe may have been stolen from other residences.
Arrest warrants have been obtained against the suspects for burglary and attempted murder. Their bonds total $120,000.00. The suspects have been identified as 22-year-old Gregory Croom and 21-year-old Jacoby Quates. Police say they anticipate additional charges on both suspects.
Fairfield police have taken five burglary suspects into custody in the past two weeks, Davis said.
